Record Attendance on July 4 Causes Festival to Close its Gates
VICTORIA, BC, July 5, 2005—k-os attracted record crowds to ICA FolkFest when he appeared on the MainStage at the Inner Harbour site on July 4. “FolkFest had to close the gates for the first time ever,” said Executive Producer, Tyl van Toorn.

Record Crowds Help FolkFest Weather Rainy Days
Planning Underway for FolkFest 2006
VICTORIA, BC, July 13, 2005—The 32nd annual ICA FolkFest (July 1-10) attracted record crowds to performances by South Africa’s Ladysmith Black Mambazo (July 10) and k-os (July 4). “FolkFest hit its capacity for the first time ever,” said Executive Producer, Tyl van Toorn. “Word has gotten out that FolkFest is a dynamic event with high-calibre acts. We were already looking at what we could do to accommodate higher audience numbers in 2006. Our foresight was fully confirmed by this year’s success.”

FolkFest Kicks Off Canada Day!
VICTORIA, BC, June 30, 2005—The 32nd annual ICA FolkFest kicks off a 10-day celebration of arts and culture Canada Day. “Traditionally,” says Executive Producer Tyl van Toorn, “July 1 is the busiest day of the festival. Things are going to heat up a bit faster than usual this year.”

FolkFest attracts close to 60,000 people to its Canada Day festivities, which celebrate our country’s rich cultural diversity and artistic heritage.

ICA FolkFest launches volunteer search
Inter-Cultural Arts Festival aims to recruit 550 volunteers before May 31st

VICTORIA, April 13, 2005—As National Volunteer Week (April 17 to 23) approaches, the organizers of the 32nd annual ICA FolkFest (July 1 to 10) are hitting the phones. Vancouver Island’s largest arts festival depends on more than 900 volunteers and 20 volunteer crews to keep things running smoothly. Their goal is to have 550 volunteers registered before the end of May.
